DON'T JUDGE ME
let.me.tell.you.what.i.look.like
Mat stands at the height of 5’10. What he lacks in height he makes up with his upper body strength. He has well defined muscles due to his long hours out at sea along with a slight tan to match. Hair is a chestnut brown and his eyes are a beautiful hazel. They often change colours ranging mostly in the green and blues. His attire is often shorts and t-shirts though he has no problem changing to the weather. He loves to wear colour and will rarely been seen wearing plain greys, blacks or whites without something else. Every now and then he can be seen with some sort of a bandana on his head or over his forehead.

For those who don't know Mat, he first comes across as a very kind and trusting person. He has a smile that could charm anyone into thinking he is an innocent, law abiding man. There is often a far off, dreamy look on his features causing a innocent apperance that most can't see past. It doesn't work on everyone, but he has a habit of looking through peoples inner shells, finding just the right thing to say. Other times he get's a slap in the face, but it's a risk everyone has to take. To boot it all, he has a strong love and passion for all pokemon... but Jigglypuff. Most of his love goes towards the water types, but enjoys learning more about the other types as well. He is a man who loves to play his guitar, work on his boat, play games, charm the ladies... Despite all of this exterior charms, his true dream lies with Team Aqua.
That innocent charm is the exact reason he is a dangerous man to tangled up with. He will never let it show, but most often if he is interacting with you, it's for Team Aqua's or his own personal gain. Information and can be one of the most powerful tools and he'll use every dirty trick in the book to get it. At times he can be a bit overly confident in his own abilities, often putting himself into situations he can not handle on his own. Yet even when this happens, he will refuse to admit he was wrong or defeated. At times, his stubbornness has come close to causing him his life.
Other than his divotion to Team Aqua, his heart belongs to the sea. (For now) The fresh air, open sea's and freedom beyond the reach of his hands is most amazing feeling to him. He feels at home on the water and would never trade anything to change that. When Matt does find something or someone he loves almost as much as the sea, he will protect it with all his heart. Team Aqua is one of those few things he will give his life to protect.
WHERE I COME FROM
if.i.had.to.write.an.essay;
Mat was born in the small town of Pacifidlog, learning to love the water from the day he was born. He was given his first pokemon, an Eevee, by his mother, telling him that "If he followed sea, his pokemon would as well." His mother was the one Mat took after the most. Her love for the water and the all the adventures it awaited had been passed down to Mat completely. He also received his charm and strength from her. They were true fishermen from the start. His father, however, was the one Mat received his knowledge on Kyogre from. His father had been a researcher of water type pokemon. Upon discovering traces of Kyogre, he had spent the rest of his life dedicated to learning more about the Pokemon. Sadly his research was left uncompleted.
One night during a horrific storm, Mat's father was swept away by the water, never to be seen again. Or at least, that's what Mat believes. It was an accident Mat blames himself for. His mother had been away on a fishing trip and Mat had been outside waiting her return. He hadn't noticed the storm rolling in until it was too late, and the young boy had been caught in the middle of it. His father, not being the strongest of men, had raced out to save his son, helping him get back inside. Mat had made it back inside but when he turned around, his father was gone. He had all intentions of going back out to help his father but before he could, a soft, soothing sound hit his ears. It had almost sounded like a lullaby. The next thing Mat knew, awaking to a sunny day and empty house.
Since that faitful day, Mat has been obsessed with finding and awaking the legendary Pokemon Kyogre. In some way, he feels it would make his fathers research complete and put his guilt to rest. He was only a teenager when he joined up with Team Aqua, a group of people all dedicated to the same goal. His life ever since had been dedicated to his work and his dream. He had left home to widen his research and to find more leads. Along the way he had collected and trained more water type Pokemon. Soon enough he was a full grown man who believed himself to be unstoppable.
His only weakness? The lullaby Pokemon who took his father away. He had run into the dreadful Pokemon a second time during one of his many voyages. It had been during another strom. Mat and his group had a lead on Kyogre but the research was being carried away on another ship. They were hot pursuit when the storm arose. Mat had all intentions of going straight through the storm, but before they could, it appeared. Small, cute and pink. It's song, though soothing and nurturing, was like the devil it's self. Next thing he knew, Mat and his team were awaking to a calm, empty sea. That day since, Mat was convinced the pink ball of fluff, known as Jigglypuff, was his bad luck charm.

Soft was the rustle in the tree canopy. A sound which could be mistaken for the breath of the wind in the hot afternoon air. It moved swiftly until the harder ‘thump’ gave away it’s true identity. A Sceptile, tall for his species, hand landed half a yard away from the rushing river. His slim, faded green body had bent as he landed and was now just beginning to straighten out. His target? The river of course. Though he greatly enjoyed the heat of the sun on his back, it had been quickly drying him out. Throughout the course of the day he had been sipping water drops off of large leaves within the forest. The water off the leaves was sweet, but warm. Vipin, as that was the name he had given himself, could think of no place better than the Rushing Creek to get a nice, cool and refreshing drink.
Carefully keeping an eye on his surroundings, Vipin had casually made his way to the creeks edge. He had stopped only once to smell the faint fragrance of a small blue flower along the way. Once by the river he took a few moments to scan his surroundings again before leaning over to gulp water. It was true; Vipin did see himself to be a noble pokemon. A king in fact. It was also true that ‘Kings’ did not ‘gulp’ or ‘chug’ water, however, in this instance Vipin just couldn’t help himself. He had all intentions of sipping the water but the second the cool liquid hit his tongue, well… he had been lost by its tranquilizing flavor. It could happen to anyone, couldn’t it?
After a very satisfying drink of the cool water, Vipin had lifted himself up to take a well desired breather. During that breather he began to remind himself that while ‘gulping’ water felt good at first, it could often lead to uncomfortable stomach-aches. He certainly did not want one of those. Especially since he had plans to do a bit of training before sundown. Yet while he was busy going over all of the displeasing reasons he did not want a stomach ache he had missed the rustling in the trees behind him. Even worse, he stopped paying attention to anything that could be above him in the sky or below him in the fast rapids of the creek. Distractions were never a good thing. One never knew when a pest might decide to ruin a perfectly good afternoon drink.
